Seventeen people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 28,209 and the death rate stands at 1.68 percent.
At least 9,614 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 16,74,230, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 28.02 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.86 percent.
A total of 34,311 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.
At least 482 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,56,079 and the recovery rate at 92.94 percent.
Of the 17 deceased, 11 were male and six female, said the release.
Of them, one was between 21-30, two between 51-60, six between 61-70, seven between 71-80 and one between 81-90 years old, added the release.
